Strong Speaker Line-Up on Tap for the 2009 Forty Under 40 Leadership Retreat

Each morning the Forty Under 40 Leadership Retreat features several informative sessions.  We've been fortunate, in the past, to have had several thought-provoking speakers address our group, and our 2009 line-up is proving to be no different.

Confirmed to speak at the 2009 Forty Under 40 Leadership Retreat are:

Pat Lencioni is the author of eight best-selling books with more than 2.5 million copies sold.  After six years in print, his book The Five Dysfunctions of a Team continues to be a fixture on national best-seller lists.

Lencioni is founder and president of The Table Group, Inc., a specialized management-consulting firm focused on organizational health.  He has been described by The One-Minute Manager's Ken Blanchard as "fast defining the next generation of leadership thinkers."

Lencioni has worked with thousands of senior executives in organizations ranging from Fortune 500 corporations and professional sports teams to universities and nonprofits.  High school, college and professional sports teams across the nation have used Lencioni's methodologies related to teamwork and leadership.

Lencioni has keynoted the annual meeting of NBA executives, facilitated a training program for NFL assistant coaches, and worked with the front office executive team and coaching staff of the San Diego Chargers.

Carmen Policy became involved with the San Francisco 49ers in 1979 and was with Ed DeBartolo Jr. when Bill Walsh was hired.  Policy's first official duty was to negotiate and finalize Walsh's first contract.  He played a key role in the team's Super Bowl victories in 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990 and 1995.  He was named president and CEO of the 49ers in 1991 and NFL Executive of the Year in 1994.

Policy took an ownership position in the Cleveland Browns and served as the team's president and CEO from 1998-2004, taking the team to the post-season in 2002.

Policy presently splits his time between San Francisco and the Napa Valley where he is actively involved with their working vineyard and establishing a wine under the label of Casa Piena.

Peter Ueberroth is managing director of Contrarian Group, Inc., an investment and management company that invests in small- and medium-size companies and takes a management role providing strategic guidance.

In July 1999, Ueberroth successfully orchestrated the purchase of the Pebble Beach Company, bringing it back to U.S. ownership after years of foreign ownership, and is its owner and co-chairman.

Ueberroth served as the sixth commissioner of Major League Baseball from 1984 to 1989.  From 1980 to 1984, he was president of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee and recently served as chairman of the United States Olympic Committee.
