Mike Holleman, Heery International, and Chris Plonsky, University of Texas, will present the 10-phase stadium renovation plan that began in the mid 1990s, and discuss the challenges faced creating a plan in which all stakeholders had consensus, followed by the task of implementing these enhancements, and the impact on collegiate athletics business models.

One-on-One Interview

John Calipari, Head Coach, Men's Basketball, University of Memphis
To most, John Calipari is best known for his success on the basketball court, and bringing both the UMass and University of Memphis programs back to national prominence. However, he is just as proud of his success in graduating his student-athletes, as well as his efforts to expand exposure to NCAA basketball on a global scale. In this one-on-one interview, Coach Cal will discuss issues ranging from the challenges of being a mentor, friend and disciplinarian in today's coaching environment to Memphis' unprecedented new partnership and exchange program with the Chinese Basketball Association.

Athletic Directors: The Changing Face of Competition

Faced with more competition for student athletes, asked to raise standards on the playing field and in the classroom and required to manage ever tighter budgets, the typical AD today must be a combination of business executive, coach, diplomat and enforcer. It's a tough, but rewarding environment. Joan Cronan, University of Tennessee; Jeff Hathaway, University of Connecticut; R.C. Johnson, University of Memphis; Tom Jurich, University of Louisville; and Doug Woolard, University of South Florida will discuss the issues of the day and reveal how they deal successfully with both the opportunities and the pressure from all sides.

The Sponsors' Perspective: Finding the Sweet Spots in College Sports Marketing
College sports has all the attributes that brand marketers covet -- an extremely passionate and loyal fan base, strong demographics and a target audience with disposable income. Many brands have tapped into this affinity and have made college sports a key part of their marketing strategy. But with increasing sponsorship fulfillment costs, splintering broadcast options and a host of new media consumption patterns, the collegiate marketplace is now more difficult to navigate than ever before. Chris Hornberger, General Motors; Al Johnson, Aflac; Tim McGhee, AT&T Mobility; and Allyson Young, Coca-Cola North America will discuss the opportunities in college sports and what marketers need to do to stay on top of the constantly-shifting landscape.
