The Entry Process
How are the entries judged?
Entries are judged by a panel of editors, writers and researchers from the SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily. Entries will be evaluated on excellence, growth, creativity, innovation, sound planning, implementation and outcomes. The list of judges for each category will not be released.
How are the nominees judged?
Once the nominees are chosen, in addition to a panel of editors, writers and researchers from the SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily, there will also be an outside judging component. This year, past nominees, as well as readers of the SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily will have the opportunity to submit their vote in each category. More details on the voting process will be announced when the voting opens in the spring.
When will I be notified about the status of my entry?
Entrants that are chosen as Nominees will be notified via mail on Friday, March 12. A list of nominees will be published in the SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily on Monday, March 15. Winners will be announced live during the awards ceremony on Thursday, May 20 at the New York Marriott Marquis.
Can I submit an entry in more than one category?
Yes. Please include separate entry materials for each category.
How do I increase my chances of winning an award?
Provide as much statistical data, including budget and sponsorship information as possible. Budget information provided will be considered off the record, unless otherwise specified. Provide as many concrete and specific examples in the areas requested as possible.
Can I make an in-person presentation?
In-person presentations will not be scheduled.
How much does it cost to enter?
There is no fee to submit an entry.
The Sports Business Awards Gala
How much does it cost to attend the awards gala?
A table of 8 may be purchased for $2,500, or individual seats may be purchased for $375 each.

Is there a special/discounted sleeping room rate at the New York Marriott Marquis for gala attendees?
The Sports Business Awards does not have a block of sleeping rooms reserved at the New York Marriott Marquis. Please contact hotel reservations at 212-398-1900 for the best available room rate.
